A truly ‘British’ June didn’t dampen The Lion’s spirits (or fine wines, cask ales and ciders for that matter); the Pub continues to bristle with activity despite last month’s prolonged rainfall.
Summer is now well-underway and our ‘Destination Pub’ warmly welcomes not only those living nearby in the communities of Lamarsh and Alphamstone, but also those visiting from further afield including an ever-increasing numbers of Ramblers, Trail Runners and Cyclists.
In terms of July’s events, the calendar remains packed with live music sessions held on Saturday nights courtesy of Mr B and the Wolf, Scorpio Rising, Bex & Freda and Millie/Flo. Music starts at 9pm so why not come to the Pub and enjoy a meal and a drink beforehand?
Utilising cutting-edge technology, The Lion’s near legendary Quiz Nights continue to take place each Wednesday evening and are very well attended. Please come along and participate, a fun-filled evening is guaranteed each time and it’s not taken too seriously…
The Pub’s newly formed Quoits Team already participates in a local Quoits League with games played weekly in and around the Stour Valley. Our ever-creative Landlord Mick is delighted to announce that the development of The Lion’s very own Pitch is now complete and ready to host ‘Home Games’… Come and try your hand!
The terraced Camping Area to the rear of the Pub is also proving to be very popular with those wishing to spend a night or two in our beautiful countryside bringing yet further trade and with Reservations being made via the Pub.
Meanwhile, we continue to focus upon further improving our food offering, building upon that already achieved by Chef Ben but now with additional input kindly being provided by Netty Morton, a former Chef at ‘Glas’ Restaurant, London and highly experienced Caterer who, like Chef Ben, simply loves working with food. Come and sample our new, inspired, delicious and ever-changing seasonal menu featuring ‘daily specials’ and bring friends and family too!
Behind the scenes, the Committee continues to make progress in terms of potential further improvement and development of facilities at the Pub including a vital extension to the kitchen area. Additional Grants and Funding have been applied for but, as always, fresh or additional investment through Share purchase is not only welcome, but now essential. Can you help please?
The Lion was established to serve the Community in which we all live. It is vital that it has your support, whether through financial investment, through your merely frequenting it or through your actively encouraging others to do so. The Pub adds value (in all forms) to our villages and enriches the lives of those living within our community… but The Lion needs YOU!
As always, I invite and welcome any comments, complaints, compliments or criticisms concerning the Pub by email, I will happily respond to each individually ~ Russell_Haldane@me.com
